Director’s Message
On the Path of Knowledge
On the path of knowledge, we journey towards our Creator; there is no end to it except in meeting Him, nor is it complete except through the perfection of servitude. For knowledge is a gate that opens upon insight—it never closes—and a virtue that can never be fully encompassed. “Above every possessor of knowledge is one more knowing.” (Yūsuf: 76)
The knowledge we seek is not a luxury to be admired, but an obligation to be fulfilled, a means of salvation in this world and the next. Imām Aḥmad (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “People are in greater need of knowledge than of food and drink, for food and drink are needed once or twice a day, but knowledge is needed with every breath.”
Among the greatest things we will be asked about on the Day of Judgment is: What did we do with the knowledge we gained? And did we seek to learn what we are not excused to be ignorant of? Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “The ignorant person is not excused from knowing the fundamentals of faith or the essential tenets that define a Muslim. Such as knowing Allah, affirming His Oneness, and believing His messengers.”
Therefore, in this journey, we uphold the value of sound and deep-rooted knowledge—knowledge that bears fruit in action, guides conduct and refines insight—built upon a firm methodology and sincere intent. We embark upon our journey to Allah building knowledge upon knowledge, understanding upon understanding.
“Allah will raise those who believe among you, and those who have been given knowledge, to higher degrees.” (Al-Mujādilah: 11)
Indeed, knowledge is in degrees, faith is in degrees, and Paradise is in degrees—and between each degree is as the distance between heaven and earth.
We do not seek to encompass all knowledge, for it cannot be contained; rather, we pursue that which sustains religion and rectifies the soul, and whatever lies beyond that is an added grace to be sought.
We pray that Allah makes this effort sincere, beneficial, and blessed. May He raise us through knowledge, help us grow in it, and inspire us to live by what we learn. Truly, He is our guide and our refuge.
